At Knoxville K9 Academy, our Study Abroad Program is an immersive Board & Train experience built for owners who want structure, clarity, and real-world reliability. For 14 days, your dog lives and trains in our structured environment with a professional trainer, building the foundation for obedience, accountability, and communication.

We believe training doesn’t end when your dog comes home after just 14 days, which is why our program is a comprehensive 12 weeks of training, coaching, and support for both dogs and their owners.

Why Study Abroad works:

Dogs learn through repetition, clarity, and consistency, which is exactly what immersion creates. For two weeks, your dog receives structured daily training designed to build habits, communication, and accountability.

Who this program is for:

Our Study Abroad program is ideal for dogs struggling with pulling on leash, ignoring commands, poor recall, reactivity, poor impulse control, and lack of boundaries. Whether your goal is obedience, reliability, or stronger public behavior, this program will build the foundation setting you and your dog up for long-lasting success.

What your dog will learn:

Along with custom daily training and general play, our program includes our standard lessons:

• 7 Core Foundations: Recall, Sit, Down, Place, Heel, Break, Off/Leave It
• Leash & Remote Collar Conditioning: Proficient on leash, Clear on leash pressure communication, Conditioned to remove collar communication, More reliable in distracting environments

PROGRAM DETAILS

PHASE ONE:

2 Weeks Intensive Board & Train:
For 14 days, your dog is immersed in structured training focused on:

• Obedience Foundations

• Leash Skills

• Engagement

• Impulse Contral

• Public Behaviour

• Environmental Neutrality

• Household Manners

• Real-World Application

PHASE TWO:

Turnover Session
Once your board & train session is done, we'll have a Turnover Session to teach you how to handle everything your dog has learned. This session lasts 1 hour and covers:

• Commands

• Structure

• Handling Mechanics

• Communication Systems

• Reinforcement

• Accountability

PHASE THREE:

2 Private Lessons
After Turnover, we continue working directly with you. This is where the real transfer happens! These private lessons help:

• Refine

• Improve Timing

• Address Real-Life Struggles

• Build Confidence

• Strengthen Consistency

Private lessons are one hour each, and take place in the two weeks following the board & train session.

PHASE FOUR:

2 Months in the Graduate Club
Once your private lessons are complete, your Graduate Club access begins. This gives you continued structure and support during the maintenance phase.
